Maria Montessori was deeply Christian, and her teaching methods are rooted in a mystique of childhood. Her disciple, Sofia Cavalettia, developed a catechesis that respected the principles of Montessori teaching: a sensory, practical approach that allows for the child's religious potential.
From 6 to 12 years old, it is the age of the reasoning mind, of abstraction, but also of social life.
Children will explore all the concepts covered from ages 3 to 6 in depth and then do summary work.
They discover the history of the Kingdom of God: where we come from – Creation –, where we are – Redemption – and where we are going: towards the Parousia where “God will be all in all” (cf. 1 Corinthians 15:28). Children are invited to get to know the books of the Bible and to look for the passages they were taught from the ages of 3 to 6.
The strong points:
- Notebooks that promote autonomy and self-confidence
- A rigorous and structured progression that responds to sensitive periods
- Practical activities to anchor learning in sensory experiences
