When Saint Pius X granted early access to the Eucharist, he initiated a revolution in religious pedagogy: how to address young children? Maria Montessori took on the task, formalizing her "intuitive" pedagogy in the realm of the sacred. In 1919, discovering Montessori's work, Mother Elizabeth, superior of the Sisters of the Assumption in Kensington, a teacher at heart, decided to transform their kindergarten.
In 1921, Mother Isabel Eugenie received her diploma from Maria Montessori herself. The impetus was given: the first recognized Montessori school in England, it was doubled upon its opening by the creation of a training center where Maria Montessori regularly taught.
The Kensington lectures given in 1952 reveal to us the little-known resources of Maria Montessori's religious pedagogy.
Collaborators of Maria Montessori, EM Standing and Mother Isabel Eugenie, RA, spearheaded religious pedagogy in the Anglo-Saxon world.
